Bed Joint Reinforcement for a Wind-Bearing Outer Leaf

Reinforcement in the bed joint lets masonry span horizontally, so the wind does not have to be carried vertically alone. This calculation determines how much reinforcement is needed for that and in which joints it goes.

When We Use This

  • An outer leaf with large facade sections without an intermediate support
  • Openings placed so close together that the piers become overloaded
  • An alternative to extra cavity wall ties or a thicker outer leaf

Basis

  • NEN-EN 1996-1-1 (Eurocode 6)
  • NEN-EN 1991-1-4 (wind load)

The calculation follows these standards. You receive a calculation report in which the assumptions and the verification are traceable.
