Bed Joint Reinforcement in Stack Bond

In stack bond, the head joints line up directly above each other. As a result the masonry lacks the interlocking that a running bond does have, and the reinforcement has to compensate more. This calculation takes that into account when determining the required bed joint reinforcement.

When We Use This

  • A facade in stack or block bond for architectural reasons
  • Masonry with a bond in which the head joints run continuously
  • Doubt whether the standard approach for running bond still applies here

Basis

  • NEN-EN 1996-1-1 (Eurocode 6)
  • NPR 9096-1-1

The calculation follows these standards. You receive a calculation report in which the assumptions and the verification are traceable.
