Glass fibre mesh for external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) reinforces the render layer and prevents cracks caused by temperature differences and settlement. Primafas and FLEX GRID AR-glas are designed for this.
Primafas is a glass fibre reinforcement mesh for ETICS applications in construction. It prevents cracking in the finishing layer and protects against water infiltration and mould growth, which extends the service life of the facade system. The glass fibre is alkali-resistant (AR), which is needed because the mesh is in direct contact with alkaline render and adhesive mortars.
Primafas is specifically designed as a reinforcement mesh for ETICS facade insulation systems. FLEX GRID AR-glas is a more flexible alternative that is also used for walls and floors, with an optimal balance between strength and flexibility.
| Product | Material | Application |
|---|---|---|
| Primafas | Alkali-resistant (AR) glass fibre | ETICS external wall insulation |
| FLEX GRID AR-glas | AR glass fibre | Walls, facades and floors |
The reinforcement mesh is pressed into the still-wet adhesive or render mortar on the insulation boards, with an overlap between the sheets as indicated on the technical data sheet, before the finishing layer is applied.
Primafas is designed specifically for ETICS systems to prevent cracking in the finishing layer; whether it is required depends on the chosen facade insulation system and its specifications.
The mesh is in direct contact with alkaline render and adhesive mortars. Ordinary glass fibre could be degraded by this; AR glass is resistant to it.
Primafas protects against water infiltration and mould growth in the facade system, which extends its service life.
